There’s nothing quite like capturing the bond between best friends, especially when the world around them is in full bloom. I had the joy of photographing Maartje and Maud during a gorgeous spring afternoon, and their energy was contagious.

The air was fresh, flowers were in bloom, and the sun cast the softest, golden light over everything. These two didn’t just pose—they laughed, ran, twirled, and playfully teased each other like they had been doing since childhood. Every glance, every shared joke, and every spontaneous moment spoke volumes about their friendship: authentic, fun, and effortless.

One of my favorite moments was when they spontaneously sat among the wildflowers, giggling so hard they nearly toppled over. Those unposed, fleeting moments are exactly what I live for as a photographer, they’re raw, genuine, and completely unrepeatable.

This session was a beautiful reminder that friendship is about presence, joy, and playfulness. In the heart of spring, with colors blooming all around, these two reminded me that love between friends is just as powerful, heartfelt, and magical as any other.

We would move countries and cities for our love relationships and jobs. But it is not so normalised to do the same for our platonic relationships. This is the same for doing photoshoots and capturing our friendships. Because why wouldn’t you want to capture the essense of girlhood, especially when the world around them is in full bloom. Often people tell me that they think a photoshoot is awkward and that it’s not something for them because they aren’t models. But I want to empasize that a session is also a moment to be outside, be present and create memories toghether. Maartje and Maud didn’t just pose, they laughed, ran, twirled, and playfully teased each other like they had since childhood. Every photo speaks volumes about their friendship: authentic, fun, and effortless.
